First edition. Undated but 1883. 12mo. 349pp. Title page reads Not to be had of any bookseller, but by application to Mr. W. Hughes, 43 Beaufort Street, Chelsea - a printed insert on pink paper states that "This volume is now to be obtained from Messrs. Chatto & Windus.. and from all Booksellers. Only a limited number are for sale". Endpapers browned, front endpaper, title page and following page have shadow from the pink slip, a little browned, corners bumped, red cloth marked to rear board, spine worn, spine label almost rubbed away.
